PROFILE AND EXPERIENCE
Designer and Art Director, Umberto Asnago has dedicated his working life to the world of design and planning. A path that began in 1968 with GIORGETTI, after graduating from the Art Institute of Cantù. His professional experience, developed in the field, led him to become first a designer and later director of the company’s Research Center. A long and intense relationship, still active today, under the banner of innovation and celebration of the cabinet-making tradition of his native territory.
Since 2006 he has dedicated himself completely to the activity of designer and creative consultant, initiating a succession of important collaborations with the most prestigious brands of “Made in Italy” design: he has been art director and historical signature of PENTA LIGHT, he is responsible for art direction and designer for 4MARIANI and product designer for ARFLEX, FRIGERIO SALOTTI, IVANO REDAELLI, BODEMA and PORADA. He is also the creator of exhibition and retail design projects for companies in the furniture and fashion industries.
From the culture of craftsmanship and authentic know-how come products that are an expression of an innate passion for materials and their processing. A strong materic flair, marked by the always lively curiosity to experiment through the use of wood essences and glass: the favorite bases to give life to design solutions inspired by the observation of everyday life and the reworking of elements that always take on new meanings.
The result of great experience and a rich and refined creative background are a number of iconic pieces including: the MoM lamp collection, inspired by Venetian tradition, and Mamì, poised between art and design, both by Penta Light; the Mobius series of armchairs by Giorgetti, with its multifaceted character; and, speaking of the office world, the Garbo armchair collection and the Avatar line by 4Mariani.
“Design” understood as “Project”: in his own creative process, Umberto Asnago honors the fullest and noblest sense of the term, which cannot disregard aesthetics, technique, functionality, production requirements and use.
